Frequently Asked Questions #
Coding Workshops for Schools #
- Who will be delivering the workshops?
All our Coding Workshops are delivered by professional app and games developers – making our sessions unique and extra special! Our presenters are also very experienced with working with students of all age groups. Typically our workshops will be delivered by one presenter, with another team member present to help support the students. All our team have DBS certificates, which we can, of course, share with you.
- What equipment do I need?
All we need to run our workshops is a large screen, which can be an interactive whiteboard, a large television screen, or a projector and screen, to hook our laptop up to and guide students through the coding projects. It’s that simple.
The students will need school computers to work on throughout the workshop, which can be Windows-based desktop PCs or laptops, Macs or Chromebooks. Some workshops can be run on iPads and tablets, but please check this with us in advance.
Our Coding Games, BBC micro:bit, and Introduction to Coding workshops all use browser-based tools, so the only software they’ll need is a modern browser such as Google Chrome, Microsoft Edge or Apple Safari.
We will bring everything else, including micro:bits and handheld game consoles, depending on the workshop.
Please note: Our GameMaker Studio Workshop and our Introduction to Website Design and Development Workshops, for 16-19-year-olds, may have additional software requirements, which we’ll discuss when you book.
- What if we need to cancel or change the date of a workshop?
If your circumstances change, we will try our best to reschedule a workshop for a more suitable date. Please read our booking terms and conditions for more information.
